It's been a few months since we've made a blog post. Ok, 7 months. Time really does fly! So what have we been up to? Farm living at it's finest!
In October of 2017, we made the official move to the farm. 73 acres of beautiful rolling hills, where the sunrises and sunsets are things dreams are made of. Wildlife step into "our backyard", giving us another glimpse of God's amazing creation. Some have called us crazy, driving an hour and a half to work and then again back home every evening and then again on Sunday for church. But, God paved the way and we followed.
The dogs love it here! They have plenty of room to run, lots of shade, a creek to play in, and the deer have even gotten used to them!
We started on the basement for the new house in December, had hoped to be in the cabin by summer, but not everything goes according to our plan. I've always heard that if you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plan. I'm sure He gets a good chuckle out of me. So, since October, we've been living the good life in a camper. Waiting until this house gets done and we get to enjoy space, a real laundry room, a dishwasher, a shower that lasts more than 3 minutes, a toilet that you flush with your hand and not your foot, and that I don't have to go outside in my towel to fill up the water tank to wash the soap out of my hair! Memories have surely been made!
The best part is our dogs Duke and Sassy. They are quite the pair. Sassy is our 17 year old Jack Russell Terrier. She's a miracle dog for sure! Sassy and Duke, our big, I mean BIG lab, share the camper with us. Duke has the meanest bark you've ever heard. Seriously. So he makes a great protector for the mobile mansion. We leave early in the morning and are gone all day, and when we get home, there they are waiting on us. Now - if you have a lab, I know what you are thinking... "You leave them out? All day? That camper is destroyed!!"
Amazingly, not one thing is messed up! Labs are known for their love of chewing EVERYTHING, but Duke has a chew toy and that's what he keeps those teeth on... not my furniture, shoes, carpet, etc. He loves a few throws from the frisbee but he is not a chewer. Praise the Lord!
So when is the move in date? Only the Lord knows. In the meantime, we just continue to remember how blessed we are to be here and enjoy each day to the fullest. Camper living has taught us how to live a minimal lifestyle. We spend more time with one another and less time with stuff. There are many things I look forward to with this house, but nothing will compare to the home that God has prepared for us. "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14 2-3.
